I have no idea where I am in my updates… but, I do know, only 3 more sleeps til I am home!

Can’t wait, although I am sad to leave beautiful Bar Harbor.  It is such a wonderful place…

Nothing to exciting going on over the last couple days… I have lost count of the number of boxes I am sending home, however, I do know it is more than I came with!  I think that may have to do with having left some stuff as the summer progressed.  It is a little overwhelming to think of what still needs to be packed.  I have tomorrow off, except for picking the van up at the dealership, and I have the Costa Atlantica on Friday.  The Halloween themed end of year party for The Parkside is on Friday night, and my flight is Saturday!  Still debating what I should do… drive to Portland Friday night and try and get an early flight out on Saturday?  Or stick with the planned flight and get home about 6:15pm?  Aggg… Details!

Super thrilled to know I am going home to our new house… certainly can’t wait to start decorating… I was at Marshall’s last night and really tempted to pick up a few things.  But, I didn’t.  Definitely too much to pack!

Headed out for dinner… not a whole lot left in the house.

11 days!

I don’t even know what day it is anymore… Thank God my cell phone has the day and date on it… I would be totally lost without. it is amazing that when I live my life in block of time, it is so difficult to remember what is happening anything further than 5 days out… and my days are not actually days, but ship names. I don’t know how to explain this, I know my “ship friends” understand anyway.

So, life this week consisted of Costa/Explorer (Sunday), then Maasdam (Monday), then days off til next Jewel (Monday).. LOL. A little ridiculous.. but I can’t help it! I think I can commiserate with my ship friends who work in a contract… I am so counting down the days, hence, the post title. I am absolutely thrilled to be getting home. This two weeks is probably the hardest. I really want to be home, there aren’t enough ship days to make up for the days off going super slow, I have a three hour ride to the airport, and then about 6 hours of flight and layover til getting to Tampa, the Tampa season with Radiance is still in the rev-up stage, and of course, I miss Richard and my Mom, and can’t wait to get into our new house!

The end of the season is always a little bittersweet too… I will miss my friends up here, I will miss the beauty of the island and the calm and serene that it is. I will not miss being 45 minutes from WalMart, I will NOT miss working multiple days in a row and trying to stay caught up.

November and December may be a little crazy because the Port Everglades season is kicking off.. Multiple ships over the weekends, so I will probably head that way to help.. which will be fun too. Different than Tampa and change of pace from Bar Harbor… we shall see how everything goes. The Allure of the Seas, Oasis’s sister ship will debut soon too.. It would be neat to be in Port Everglades for their big arrival from the ship yard. A neat experience to be part of, and certainly helps me to appreciate Tampa and the group I work with there. The group in Tampa has been together for so long, the days are like clockwork and finishing up at the end of the day is so easy.

Off to bed! Gotta pack tomorrow, and possibly shipping the first suitcase home. Hallelujah! I love it here, but I love the thought of going home more!

Amazing how this week feels like it is flying… but, it is only Thursday!

Richard signed our contract and received keys to the house last Wednesday. I started making calls to transfer and cancel services on the apartment and he rounded up a couple of guys to actually do the move on Sunday.

So, officially, he stayed in the house on Sunday night.. we are homeowners. Unbelievable still. Maybe I am still in shock. Might be that way til I actually get home (T minus 23 days and counting, by the way.)

I actually ended up with a few days off work… Tuesday til Friday… and made the 4 hour drive to Uncle Billy and Auntie Heidi’s place. Having a wonderful time.. I slept in til 10:30am yesterday… Thanks Uncle Bill for the wake up call! I definitely felt rested… even though I fell back into bed before 10pm last night. Oh well, what can one do?

Apparently I feel asleep in the middle of that update… let us jump ahead, and catch up again.
Billy took me to a fantastic little Italian place in downtown Dover and we had a great time… Even though it had rained all day, and was a little chilly for this Florida girl, I still enjoyed getting to spend some quality time with him. 🙂 I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant though…

Hannah’s birthday was on Thursday, 10/7.. 9 years old. I am the oldest of the grandkids on my Dad’s side.. Hannah is the youngest… and oddly enough, her birthday definitely made me feel old. Ugh. But, we had a fun time. We went to the USS Albacore, which was a research vessel in the early 1940’s. Billy was in the Navy, so it was neat to hear some of his stories aboard ships similar to this one. The vessel looks so large from the outside, I couldn’t believe how small the interior is.. and the fact it holds 55 persons. Amazing. Makes me glad I work with cruise ships, and not for the Navy!

Headed back to Bar Harbor on Friday, the weather definitely picked up and it was an uneventful ride home.

Saturday was Costa Atlantica. Inspection of over 1800 foreign nationals… but, done by 11:30am, I was pretty impressed. Oh, and one of the sailors slipped right off the dock into the water. My jaw hit the ground, and it is funny now, but at the time… “Oh geez” was all I could think.

Sunday was RCCL Enchantment of the Seas. 4 medicals, 3 still in the hospital. Need I say more? The day finally ended at about 11:30 last night. Double ugh!

Today was RCCL Jewel of the Seas, and a fairly easy day.. No real dramas.. only 1 medical… Brisbee was at work with me all day, I think she loved all the attention she got.

I fell asleep, again!!

These days are just so long..

Yesterday was HAL Eurodam. Nothing too exciting, only 1 medical.

And now I am trying to figure out what to do about today. I need to hit the storage unit and get that cleaned out, and maybe start packing up. The weekend is going to be a long and busy one, and I need to start shipping stuff home next week. Wa-hoo!
