Facebook is good!

What a busy week it has been!  I think the most noteworthy was dinner last Wednesday night….

Thanks to good ole’ Facebook, I recently reconnected with my best friend… from elementary school!  Can you imagine??  I mean, think about it, where would we be without Facebook now??  I know a lot of us (including me) spend far too much time updating our status, flipping through others’ pictures, finding who married who, who has a kid, or two, and all the other nonsensical stuff that we normally learn at high school reunions, or never find out at all!

We met Kelsey and her husband, Rob, at the Acropolis in Ybor.  The music was a little loud but the conversation was great.  I can’t believe it has been about 14 years since we saw each other, maybe more…

Last weekend was almost as fun, we took Brisbee and Oscar to the beach, Ft. DeSoto.  It was hotter than it has ever been, and Brisbee willing went into the water to cool down.. Oscar was like a little kid… he slept under the umbrella most of the day, super cute!

We did have to convince Oscar that going in the water was okay…. although the convincing was a lot of holding and trying to keep him from flipping out…  It was his first time at the beach, but he did well!  They both made friends with the other dogs on the beach, there were quite a few doxies on the beach that day – adorable!!

I am home for a week now, trying to decide what might get accomplished this week, and adding some items to my huney’s “Honey Do List.”  We are still delayed in putting the crown molding up around the house, the office and three walls in the master bedroom is the only thing completed.  We also desperately need a fence in the backyard, something so the dogs can spend the nice days outside, without my fears of them running away.  I planted some flowers in the front yard just last week too!  VERY domesticated.  We intend on pulling up the mulch that is currently down and replacing it with something new, and hopefully getting some more colorful in the front as well.  I think we would love to put in a palm tree, but one step at a time!  Once we get some more work done out there, and inside, I will be posting some pictures.

**13th, friday**

Such a week!  I came up to Bar Harbor yesterday.  The weather was amazing today for the Maasdam… I heard reports we were in the 70’s!  Unfortunately, the weather went down hill over night… It has been alternating between overcast and rainy, cold, windy, and generally miserable since Friday night.  Blah!

**14th, saturday**

My colleague, Greg, was in town over the weekend and we decided to go for a bit of a hike today.  Beech Mountain.  It was beautiful!  It was 1.1 miles, and probably took 40 minutes or so.. The trek was much shorter… but we stayed at the top of the mountain for a bit.. the scene below was just amazing.  And quiet.  SO quiet.  I don’t have the cord with me to put some pictures online just yet, but I definitely will.  It was great.

**17th, tuesday**

I have just two more nights in Bar Harbor.. our big Mass Rescue Operation exercise is on the schedule for tomorrow.. I can’t believe all the winter trips to Bar Harbor will finally amount to something!  It will be a long day tomorrow, starting at 8am and ending by 4pm or so.. I am definitely looking forward to learning what type of impact I can provide, if any.  I am hoping it will be a learning experience I can take back to teach others.

Today was the big drill, the one we have been planning for ALL winter.  It was definitely a learning experience.  It didn’t quite go as I had thought it might… I was definitely expecting a little bit more that we experienced.  Royal Caribbean’s objectives were accountability.  We had a grand total of 184 passengers we were looking for, and only 64 we were actually able to account for.. unfortunately, the amount of volunteers we truly needed didn’t equal out to what we had.  I will take away some key points that the company can apply to incidents in the future, I am certainly hoping for some additional opportunities to practice what I have learned.

Looking forward to a good weekend… I am hosting a Premier party on Friday.  I am hoping to hit the dog beach on Saturday and we are meeting a very dear friend for dinner on Wednesday.. my best friend from elementary school!

Can’t believe the Bar Harbor season is starting already!!  It seems like I just packed up and moved home, to a new house… and a new ship in Tampa.  Holey Moley.

I just spent last week traipsing up the New England coast.. flying into Providence RI on Tuesday night, and taking a shuttle to Newport RI.  Worked a full day, then hitched a ride with a co-worker up to Gloucester MA,  found out the ship was canceled due to some pretty dense fog (but wandered around the little town while he had a meeting) and then traipsed another 6 hours or so up to Bar Harbor ME.  What a week.  I have about enough time in the car to last me the rest of the year, but, I can’t help it… I love the work, and the travel.  The travel bug has DEFINITELY bit me hard.  :0)

Bar Harbor had the most amazing weather…. I was still wearing two layers, but the sun was out.  And it was gorgeous.

I flew home on Saturday morning, went to directly to the pier in Tampa to see off the Radiance… I really enjoyed working with everyone on board, and I think we had a magnificent season.  I know December and January were tough…. but I really made some great friends.  :0)

April 30 — we celebrated one year of marriage!!  I can’t believe how the time has flown.. It is amazing to think of all of the things we have experienced together, as a married couple… and I can’t believe it has all happened in such a short period of time.  From January of 201o to the current, we have:  gotten engaged, gotten married, adopted a doxie, bought a house, moved into the house.. talk about a bucket list, right?  Wow.

This week, Richard had enough time to take a break from work… much needed of course… we spent Monday in Orlando, playing at the Bass Pro Shop, lunch at Fuddruckers, wandered around WonderWorks, and went to a comedy show.. pretty great day.  Tuesday was another day out on the bay with me and the dogs.. and he spent another day out there today, alone this time.  Yesterday was a hang around the house day… and who knows what’s on the list for tomorrow… I am just glad he had been able to take some time off.

So, Happy Cinco de Mayo!
